在去森林里露营的途中，小男孩肖恩（瑞克·斯克路德 Rick Schroder 饰）同父母一起遭遇了可怕的车祸，在车祸中，肖恩的父母双双身亡，不知是幸还是不幸，肖恩活了下来。在偌大的原始森林里，小小的男孩形单影只的徘徊着。这一切都被帕特瑞克（威廉·霍尔登 William Holden 饰）看在眼里。帕特瑞克对自己的重病心知肚明，也明白自己已经时日无多，所以他来到此处，希望能在故乡的土地上安然长眠。 就这样，属于帕特瑞克和肖恩的旅程开始了，一个走向新生，而另一个走向终结。在旅程中，帕特瑞克不断的向肖恩传授着在丛林里生存下去的要诀，而肖恩也在学习的同时不断的磨练的内心。一段旅途两个终点，他们能够顺利抵达各自的目的地吗？
