丹尼尔（丹尼尔·奥图 Daniel Auteuil 饰）和阿兰（皮埃尔·阿迪提 Pierre Arditi 饰）做了大半辈子的朋友，两人对彼此可谓是熟的不能再熟，毫无秘密可言。两人都结了婚，并且和各自的妻子度过了漫长的婚姻生活，可是，上帝总喜欢开一些荒唐的玩笑，两个男人在他们年近五十岁之时，才遇到了真爱。 丹尼尔因为儿子的一场车祸结识了名为朱迪思（夏洛特·甘斯布 Charlotte Gainsbourg 饰）的女子，而阿兰则爱上了年纪比他小很多的非洲女子法丽达（阿伊萨·玛依卡 Aïssa Maïga 饰）。面对同样的道德困境，丹尼尔和阿兰做出了截然不同的选择，可是无论怎样，他们都要自己承受冲动带来的后果。
