Set during the Vietnam War in 1968 the story revolves around a sixteen-year old girl who is a hapa and living in Okinawa. She works at a restaurant which caters to the hordes of American GIs as customer. There she meets a guy who is the leader of a local rock band one day. They go steady. She joins a band with him and begin making music together. Their lives begin to change as Okinawa transitions back to partial Japanese control and the band makes progress.
