Using the split of the primary colours, Red, Blue, Yellow, and the renewed cinema device of 3D eyeglasses for a tangible illusionism, Wei Shilei unfolds the subconscious conflicts and schisms in all love stories. Who will win if the boy doesn’t overcome his disruption, and if the girl fears his being both at once? The conflict seems to culminate in a catastrophe, this however gives way to a solution by a recovery out of the deep ocean. Yet the gained harmony comes out as a fiction when the camera moves back and the author of the story is sitting in a cinema theatre, clapping hands, but still desperately alone.
Mixing animation for the background story and camera shots in a studio, split screen and colour exchange for the imaginary tale, Wei Shilei unfolds the situation with scarce images yet with a deep insight in not only contemporary love’s drama.
