Stephen Belber's is coming back to New York, according to The New York Times. The play, which was shown at the Access Theater in 1999, will begin performances at the José Quintero Theater in January.
Tape centers on three old friends who, within the confines of a tawdry motor lodge in Lansing, Michigan, come together to play out the unresolved drama of their final days in high school.
A film version of the story was released earlier this month. Belber adapted his own play for the movie, which was directed by Richard Linklater. Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard and Uma Thurman star in the film.
The production at the José Quintero Theater will star Dominic Fumusa, Josh Stamberg and Allison M. West.
